12 arrested for illegal lottery trade in India
The police have detained 12 people in three different cases over the past 24 hours, continuing their crackdown on illegal lottery firms running gambling rackets.
Nine people were arrested by the Division Number 6 police and Rs 2,800 was recovered from their possession at a shop near Dholewal Chowk.
Another man, Shiv Kumar, a resident of Tajpur Road, Vishwakarma Nagar, was arrested at Kuldeep Nagar for Rs 8,210.
Similarly, two men who claimed to operate a government-approved lottery company in Miller Ganj were nabbed by Division Number 6 police.
The accused, identified as Kuldeep Singh of Islam Ganj and Deepak Kalra of Prem Nagar, had Rs 5,260 in their hands, ASI Jagir Singh said.
The arrests came following clear orders from Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal, who directed SHOs from all police stations to ensure that any illegal lottery company did not run their jurisdiction, otherwise, they would face action.
