After beating Liverpool 3-2 at Old Trafford, Manchester United will host West Ham in the FA Cup’s fifth round.
Many were frustrated by the two-side league meeting a week ago, but this meeting was full of goals, and since Christmas, the Premier League champions have now won only one of their seven games in all competitions.
With Dean Henderson, Victor Lindelof, Marcus Rashford, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay lining up, and David de Gea, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly dropping out, United made five changes from the squad that came from behind to overcome Fulham in midweek.
In the first half, Mo Salah opened the scoring, but Mason Greenwood ensured there was little between the two sides at the break as he converted coolly from the pick-out of Marcus Rashford.
After the break, Greenwood turned supplier, and Rashford turned scorer, bringing United in front before Salah equalized. United called Bruno Fernandes off the bench, and a sumptuous free-kick was scored by the Portuguese to ensure victory.
