VPL T10 – First Cricket Match To Begin on 22 May
According to a report on Friday, cricketers may return to the field for the first time since March in the inaugural T10 Vincy Premier League (VPL) Caribbean tournament from 22 May. The VPL is set to begin next Friday in St Vincent and will be the first international competition to be played under updated transitional rules, including prohibiting the usage of saliva on the ball owing to the coronavirus pandemic. According to the article on the Cricinfo website, the event is expected to be free to fans because there have been no limitations put by the St Vincent and the Grenadines administration.
There will be a minimum of 30 matches, all broadcast online, with six franchise teams in attendance. West Indies internationals are all scheduled to play Kesrick Williams, Sunil Ambris and Obed McCoy. The opening game will be the first match to be remembered since Karachi Kings played the Pakistan Super League Quetta Gladiators on March 15.
Kishore Shallow, the president of St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association have told reporters that they have written to Cricket West Indies (CWI) and are hoping for a positive response. Shallow mentioned that the tournament was put together after engaging with an Indian-based sports technology company. cricket betting
