Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India and current president of the BCCI, has said he is still unsure when cricket will resume in the country. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all cricketing activities across the globe were halted in March. Although the lock-down is slowly being lifted in India, Ganguly is still unsure when a green light will be given to cricket.
In an interview with Sportskeeda, Ganguly said that they would consider all possibilities to resume cricket since they could not assure what’s going to happen in the future.
With Covid-19 positive cases on the rise in India, Ganguly or BCCI can not yet schedule the Indian Premier League. The president of the BCCI reiterated that there had been no debate on the board about the tournament schedule.
If the IPL could not resume, BBCI doesn’t have any idea where it could happen. It is the matter of India would like to host the case, provided the atmosphere is secure. BBCI is not in the position to decide anything now since the situation is unclear. The primary consideration is to break the coronavirus chain instead of resuming the IPL.
Nevertheless, the tournament was expected to start on March 29, but the pandemic urged BCCI to postpone it indefinitely. BCCI now looks at the October-November window reserved for the World T20. With ICC yet to agree on the tournament’s fate in Australia, BCCI has crossed its fingers in the midst of growing cricket support.
