Legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has made a stunning statement to the Indian Premier League (IPL) giants Kings XI Punjab about his stints. Yuvraj, who will go down in the history of the game as one of the best all-rounders from the 2008 to 2010 season, represented the Punjab outfit in the cash-rich league, before joining the 2014 runners-up for the 2018 edition. The former all-rounder of Team India has revealed he wanted to run away from KXIP as the management of Punjab outfit never liked him during his play days with the IPL.
Nicknamed Yuvi, the Punjab-born, was an iconic player when Kings XI first signed him for the cash-rich league’s inaugural season. Yuvraj enjoyed his status for two seasons before being replaced in 2010 by Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara as Punjab’s heavyweight’s captain. Yuvraj broke with Kings XI and joined Pune Warriors India (now extinct) as their 2011 season captain.
Remembering his bitter-sweet experience with the Punjab giants, Yuvraj said that while playing for the IPL franchise owned jointly by Ness Wadia and Preity Zinta, he did not have the best of times. Speaking to the news agency PTI, Yuvraj made a shocking revelation and said that during his playing days, he didn’t like the functioning of the Kings XI side while he has nothing but love for the Punjab outfit.
“I wanted to run away from Kings XI Punjab … the management didn’t like me there … they didn’t do anything I asked them to do … and when I left they bought all the players, I told them to. I love Punjab, but I didn’t like running the franchise,” Yuvraj said.
The Indian southpaw also put their trade in the cash-rich-league with Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), before bowing out of the men’s game after the 2019 IPL season. In T20 cricket, Yuvraj bagged two hat-tricks, and the left-handed batsman scored 1077 runs in 137 games in the IPL.
