[IPL]- Mohammed Shami don’t think IPL will be possible in 2020            cricket bangladesh

Though fans across the country and even most players are hoping for the Indian Premier League’s 13th season to happen, Mohammed Shami, on Wednesday, reckoned that with World T20 scheduled to arrive later this year, there’s little room left to find a window for IPL 2020.

IPL 2020 was scheduled to launch at Wankhede Stadium on 29 March, but with the increase in the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, BCCI postponed it until 15 April. With no situation change, BCCI was forced to postpone this indefinitely until further notice.

Though BCCI is still looking for a safe window later in the calendar year, Shami feels the board won’t be left with choices as the World T20 begins from October onwards when other international tours are also taking place.

“I don’t think there’s going to be time available to keep the IPL because there’s also the (T20) World Cup and everything has stopped. IPL’s going to have to be rescheduled, but looking at the present situation, I don’t think the IPL is going to be possible,” Shami told India Today.

Shami claims, however, that if lockdown ends early then, IPL 2020 can be held later in the year. The Indian pacer added that before the T20 World Cup, IPL could provide a space for players to get into the routine and retrieve their form. As Ajinkya Rahane, Shami also feels that to get back into shape and match-day routine, players will require at least a month.
