G2E Asia postponed again to December
The G2E Asia, held annually at The Venetian Macao, is the annual major event of the Asian gambling industry. The organizers are the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions. A few days ago, AGA announced on its official website that G2E Asia will be postponed until December 1st to 3rd, and the venue will remain unchanged. The organizer stated that the health and safety of exhibitors, participants and employees is always the top priority. Based on the continuous monitoring of the global public health crisis and the results of consultations with customers and the Macau government, a decision was made to postpone until December.
Of course, the G2E Asia organizer’s decision to postpone the event twice will not surprise the industry. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to spread in countries all over the world, even many countries continue to implement the policy of locking the country and lockdown the city, and will continue until the end of May. According to the original schedule, it may be too early to hold the event from July 28 to 30, because there is no clear indication that the large gatherings and international travel are safe enough for the participating companies and participants to start preparing for related work without worrying about personal health.
Josephine Lee, Chief Operating Officer of Reed Exhibitions East China, evaluated the rescheduling in another press release and explained that the current situation is changing rapidly, making the intention to host G2E Asia in a safe environment in this summer have to postpone until the end of this year, because taking into account the health of exhibitors, participants and employees is the most important thing.
At present, it is unclear whether the changes in G2E Asia’s schedule will affect the overall attendance rate. But in fact, according to the industry assessment, there should not be too much impact, because the global gambling industry has to unite to jointly restore the level before the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the official website of G2E Asia, the 13th G2E Asia in 2019 has an exhibition area of 34,000 square meters, and nearly 200 international companies participated in the exhibition. In this event, the latest and most cutting-edge products, solutions and technologies were displayed.
