The England and Wales Cricket Board has published a five-phase plan for the return of recreational cricket. People are allowed to train in groups of up to six if the guideline is followed for social distance in phase 3. Phase four would be adapted to matches, and phase 5 would be a return to healthy, free from restrictions.
The ECB has the ambition to cricket start as soon as it is safe to proceed. While social distancing is likely to be in place for the predictable future, cricket is a non-contact team sport with individual disciplines, and the ECB hopes to get back the cricket in the summer.
ECB will proceed to phase 4 only with the support of the government and the medical experts suggest it’s safe to move on, the safety of the cricket member is the priority. Step four modifications would include shorter formats allowing for more games to be played while also maintaining social distance, and decreased use of hospitality and indoor facilities.

Phase 5 is entirely open for all restrictions for league, tournament and services. The social distancing rules will be liberated in this phase, but it’s impossible to be done by this summer.
For England, the current advice is only with the Welsh Government set to review current restrictions on June 18.
