China establishes online gambling reporting platform
A few days ago, according to the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Criminal Procedure Law of the People’s Republic of China and related regulations, the China government issued six notices on matters related to the fight against cross-border gambling and telecommunications network fraud. China officials pointed out that cross-border gambling and telecommunication network fraud crimes have seriously endangered the legitimate rights and interests of the people of the country and affected the development of the economy and society. Especially since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, online casinos outside of China and online gambling websites have strengthened their marketing efforts to China players.
The specific contents of the notice include: Anyone who commits cross-border gambling and telecommunications network fraud crimes abroad, teaches criminals methods of crime, provides network technical support, and accepts payment of funds will be severely hit. In addition, anyone who engages in criminal activities outside the country will be investigated by the public security department after returning to China and dealt with according to law. In addition, the immigration management department will work with relevant departments to strengthen immigration control, strengthen border area patrolling and control, and crack down on illegal immigration in accordance with the law, and promptly detect and severely crack down on cross-border gambling and telecom network fraud suspects.
Not only that, the public security of China also pointed out that it will work with relevant departments to strengthen the comprehensive management of cross-border gambling and telecommunications network fraud, and increase the control of illegal funds. And remind China citizens to recognize the nature and serious harm of online fraud, consciously resist to participate in online gambling on gambling activities outside China, be highly vigilant about new fraud techniques and continuously improve awareness and ability to prevent it. Finally, the public security of China hopes that the citizens will actively report and expose related illegal and criminal activities. The public security department will award a big reward and protect the whistleblowers ’personal information and safety in accordance with the law.
Earlier,the department of public security of China held a special meeting to promote the effectiveness of the crackdown. This also means that the China government is planning to establish special digital reporting channels, and whistleblowers can submit their own reports through these platforms.
