Steven Briggs, the newly named Head of DevOps at the worldwide organization at Hillside Technology, talked to DevOpsOnline as to why they felt it was time to incorporate such activities into such a massive partnership and what the transition meant to them.
Appropriating DevOps practices allows addressing bet365 ongoing challenges of scale, speed, and stability in new ways, focusing on automation, deep insight into the running of the life estate, and auto-remedy.
Automation will increase efficiency, profitability and speed to market. At the same time, more in-depth insight into the operation of the life estate will enhance consistency and our trust in the delivery of change.
This can combine to allow for auto-remediation, which in turn can increase stability and adjust speed.
Overall, the goal is to enhance our understanding of the parameters that support a healthy live estate to the point where bet365 can spot problems, diagnose the problem, and solve or mitigate them before reporting a site issue.
Achieving that level of stability without reducing the frequency and speed of change deployment is the key for bet365. There’ll be work to do before this is done.
