Betway and Dafabet announcing new Sponsorships with La Liga
Betway and Dafabet online sportsbooks have increased their presence in Spain after signing new deals at La Liga.
Dafabet agreed to become the sponsor of the front-of-shirt for the Cádiz FC for the next two seasons, while Betway decided to become the official bookmaker for Celta Vigo.
The La Liga season 2020/21 will commence on September 12th, just under two months after the conclusion of the 2019/2020 protracted campaign.
This year, the regulation of gambling has been a hot topic in Spain, and operators may soon have to comply with severe restrictions on publicity.
Cádiz will be playing their first season on the Spanish top flight after they were committed at the end of the campaign in 2005/06. Since then they have been trading places between the Segunda, the second-highest division in Spain, and the Segunda B – the third tier.
Dafabet will feature on the play kits for the club, as well as their wear for training and travel.
Betway’s new deal with Celta Vigo comes soon after it has agreed to extend its partnership with Leganés – who were relegated last season from La Liga. Its partnership with Celta will give it access to in-stadium advertising rights while the two parties will work together to develop promotional pre-match content.
Vice President of Celta Vigo Ricardo Barrios expressed his excitement at the new contract. He’s hoping the two can come together through difficult times.
Control on Spanish gambling could soon be tightened.
The Spanish Government has warned that betting firms could soon be subject to strict advertising regulations. As part of this, one of the goals will be sponsorship agreements.
In the latest draft of the Royal Decree on Ads submitted to the European Commission, it is reported that “sponsorship of sports t-shirts or equipment does not qualify.”
The European Association of Betting and Gaming (EBGA) has cautioned that the new plans may be too restrictive and therefore counterproductive.
